Announcing Humboldt Made's New Board President and Officers

We are excited to announce Meredith Maier as the new board president of Humboldt Made! She was unanimously elected at our annual board dinner in August at former board president Don Banducci’s home in Bayside.

Meredith is the owner of Six Rivers Brewery in McKinleyville and she has served on the board of Humboldt Made for the last 7 years. When asked why she values Humboldt Made as an organization, she said

As a local small business owner and beer manufacturer, I know first hand how important local support and networking is. And as a member of Humboldt Made board of directors, I can use my passion to build a sustainable local business community that can support itself and others. I wholeheartedly believe in creative collaboration and Humboldt Made excels at bringing together like minded business owners to create unique opportunities to work together and support one another. A high tide lifts all boats, I’ve experienced this through Humboldt Made and seek to be part of a high tide for others.

The board additionally elected Cedar Reuben to serve as the treasurer of Humboldt Made. When asked why he serves on the board of Humboldt Made, Cedar replied,

Humboldt Made is a critical organization for helping build local prosperity. The stronger and more diverse our local businesses are, the more resilient and prosperous our local economy will become. I serve on the board of Humboldt Made because I have over three decades of experience managing local companies and I want to put that experience to work by helping other local businesses grow and prosper. Plus, it’s a great group of people and we have a lot of fun working together!

In addition to the new officers, we are excited to announce a few new (and returning) board members. John Richmond of Times-Standard, Bill Prescott of Lost Coast Communications, and Ara Pachmayer of Humboldt State University round out the board for this term.

Here is why they each serve on the board of Humboldt Made.

John:

Community in Humboldt is everything--I've never felt more devoted to a place and its people than I do to this one. My own talents and experience are in communications, sales & marketing and business. These are the tools I can bring to bear to help give back to the community. Humboldt Made offered a perfect opportunity for me to put those tools to good use. Simply: it seemed the smartest way for me to do the most good by our community.

Ara:

I serve on the board of directors because of all the good things that Humboldt Made does for our community. It's exciting to see businesses discover each other through Humboldt Made who go on to create everything from informal mentoring relationships to successful product collaborations. I enjoy being part of an organization that is so passionate about our local area and all it has to offer.

Quote from our Executive Director, Alanna Powell -

Humboldt Made boasts some amazing leadership. This board is dedicated to the community of makers we serve as an organization. Leadership that champions continuous growth and a fearlessness to try new things. They are perpetually supportive of myself and our staff. I could not be more grateful for this table of “bosses”.
