Member Spotlight: Alchemy Distillery
Alchemy Distillery is a small craft distillery making high quality, small batch spirits with locally sourced grains. They are a husband and wife team passionate about hand crafted products.
In 2010, Steve and Amy Bohner founded the Alchemy Distillery in Arcata, CA. Following in the tradition of other Humboldt innovators, Steve and Amy set out to develop their own unique, high-quality brand of spirits. They use 100% Humboldt grown grains, making them uniquely Humboldt Made.
To better develop their craft, the Bohner's hit the road, touring various distilleries throughout Kentucky and Tennessee and acquiring a cache of invaluable techniques and information they'd later implement into their own distillation process. In 2018, Alchemy Distillery released its first aged whiskey, produced using 100% locally-grown wheat which sold out in under 2 hours! You can find their products in most stores, restaurants and bars in Humboldt. They have also have expanded to some additional spots in CA and OR.
When asked, Why Humboldt? Amy answered, “There is nowhere else we'd rather be. What is better than living a life where the forest meets the ocean? We love this community and we plan to live here for the rest of our lives.” We couldn’t agree more!
